  1. I really like the blend of modern pop and traditional Japanese music influence on this one. Particularly the string instrument sounds like a shamisen. It creates this fairy tale-like atmosphere.

  2. This really is a very sad song of someone who lost his love in a tragic accident and is in pain yearning for her. For me it helps understanding the Japanese lyrics and the meaning behind the phrases. Japanese lyrics tends to get poetic at times, and for that reason, something always gets lost in translation. So watching Taemin dance these emotions always brings me to tears. His precise and fluid body movements are in harmony with the words of the song as well as the melodic pattern. When I watch Taemin dance I am totally connected to him , like when he brings his hands to his ears and the way he sways his head back or even brings his head down and plops on the floor, all expressing the despair of losing someone he loved so much.
He really did a tremendous job in vocalizing and interpreting this beautiful song through dance as only Taemin can.

  3. Taemin is a storyteller by nature and the best thing is that his voice conveys a lot as well as his dancing. That's simply Taemin's quality. Also Taemin's Japanese solo discography is really the best I've heard so far…. Ballads, Jpop dance…. a lot of versatility through his albums.. Nobody like KING TAEMIN

  4. I like the mv better because it makes the song more emotional and dramatic with the story and the AMAZING visuals why people suggested the dance version tho in the original mv almost the hole video is taemin dancing too …

  5. To really understand the song and choreography for Taemin's "Flame of Love" I think you need to see the regular MV. Because the whole dance is telling a story that only becomes clear when you see the special effects used in the regular MV. His movements in the choreography are very deliberate, because, if you see the story MV, you will see that they use CGI flames that shoot from his arms and body. The dance moves are meant to allow the flames to swirl around him and the flames become an extension of his movements.

The song is about love and heartbreak. In the regular MV you will also see that he is incarnated as a phoenix in order to use the phoenix's powers to bring the girl he is in love with back to life after she was killed in a car accident. In the story you will see that as soon as the girl is brought back to life, the price Taemin has to pay is with his soul and he trades places with the girl, where he is forced to wait for her until their souls meet up again after death. That's why in the dance version he is wearing that white outfit because it's a death shroud, which he wears as he crosses over into the afterlife to wait for her to join him. Taemin gave up his life to allow her to live — he made the ultimate sacrifice for love. His "Flame of Love" burned so brightly and passionately that he was willing to give up everything to have her live.

"Flame of Love" is another one of Taemin's Japanese tracks that is true art. It's one of the most beautiful MVs. Even though this choreography was complex, I am sure it was no problem for him, after all he is one of THE BEST dancers in the industry. LOL

This was another one of Taemin's songs that was choreographed by Sugawara Koharu, who also choreographed Taemin's "Move," " Sayonara Hitori," "Want," "Criminal" and SHINee's "Good Evening," etc.

Taemin has no formal ballet or even contemporary dance training. However, he learned contemporary style when he first started working with Sugawara Koharu. She taught him contemporary dance for his "Sayonara Hitori" MV. What you see is a combination of what he has learned over the past 15+ years as a dancer and pure raw talent.

  6. Aaron, you should react to Forestella. It's a crossover group with the most perfect voices harmonizing I've ever seen in my life. They had a comeback recently, the song is called Save our lives, but they also have some cover videos, like Bohemian Rhapsody by queen, hijo de la luna (this one is perfect), scarbourough fair and many others. As I know you appreciate good singers, I think you'll like.

  7. Maybe you are not so familiar with oriental songs? Maybe that is why you don't have much to say? I think songs like this which include traditionality express things only people from that certain tradition region can understand.
Anyway thank you for your reaction! I love how you appreciate taemin. I really love him too and respect him.
